choosing outdoor furniture

Once you have your garden looking its best, it's time to start researching outdoor furniture. You'll find such a variety that it may be hard to choose which garden furniture will fit best with your garden and home decor. You may try looking in different garden supply stores as well as major department stores to try and match your home decor and garden style.

Not only is outdoor furniture functional, but it can add to the beauty and style of your particular garden. Your landscaping and gardening plans as well as paths may dictate as to the type of furniture you'd like in your garden. Small gardens or small areas may want a bench or two, whereas large areas can take a full patio or garden set. Deciding what you're going to use your garden area for should be one of the decisions you make before you purchase garden furniture.

If you are looking for a small company setting to enjoy the evening breeze or sunrise, perhaps a bench with a back and a small table will do, but if you're into entertaining and have large open spaces in your garden, you'll want to find a complete set so that you can enjoy conversation easily with a large group. Small nooks and crannies can use just a bench, a table, or even just a figurine, while larger spaces demands style and elegance as well as functionality.

You'll also need to decide what kind of material you'd like your outdoor furniture in. There's a variety of furniture materials such as aluminum, cast iron, Cedar, wicker, and even teak is available in outdoors furniture. You'll want to take a look at your home decor and the outside of your home before you choose the type and style of material that you'd like to use in your outdoor furniture. Make sure it all complements well, and it doesn't stand out as two different in style or material.

There are also a variety of different types of comfort choices when it comes to your garden furniture. If you're using cast-iron or even concrete benches, you may decide that you'd like a few cushions lying around. Make sure that you choose comfortable cushions that are also durable and weather resistant. If you're entertaining on a regular basis, you can leave your cushions out, but remember if it starts to rain, hail or blow quite a bit, you should bring your comfort cushions indoors.

Weather is a factor when it comes to choosing your outdoor furniture, winter can be tough on woods as the moisture can sink into the fibers, and if it freezes the fibers expand and begin destroying the wood itself. Even cast-iron and concrete can be affected by the weather. If there are cracks in your concrete or cast-iron severe weather such as rain and freezing can enter the cracks causing them to widen. The decision as to what type of furniture for the climate you live in can be easy or difficult. Make sure your outdoor furniture is durable for your particular climate and then remember to move it indoors if you have severe weather.
